Object of the month: Protocol from 1946 - 1959

Monthly Artifacts

After the Second World War, both Finnmark and Nord-Troms County were in ruins resulting from Germany's use of the scorched-earth tactic to keep the Russian army from making use of the resources there. There existed a strong dedication to re-build the north of our country again. People all over Norway wanted to contribute.

This book is a protocol that documents how and what kind of gifts was shipped up to Alta and given out to the people that had lost everything. It was an emphasis on practical items, such as sewing machines, meat grinders, coffee grinders, fabrics and clothes.
