Object of the month: Field telephone
Monthly Artifacts
This field telephone is from the 1950s. The most mobile telephone at this time. It was mainly used during work at the telegraph. To use it, one had to connect to the wire, which had been put in to the treads – and then one could make the call. Later on, it was used at the local sport arrangements out in the fields in Alta, and as timekeeping during ski races. The operator of this phone would make broadcasters to the radio for the kids. They thought it was fun – to be "broadcasted in the radio."
