Come explore and play at Alta Museum!
We are delighted to present our new playground inspired by the rock carvings in Alta!
Outside the museum you will now find a brand-new playground. This project is the result of several years of work and has already been warmly welcomed.
Inspired by life in the Stone Age, the playground encourages imaginative play and features four play structures based on Alta’s rock carvings: a reindeer to climb into and slide out of, a goose to sit on, a boat to row, and a bow and arrow to climb. The area also includes a lavvu (traditional Sami tent), which visitors can explore and climb on.
The playground is designed and built by the Danish company Monstrum, in collaboration with Alta Municipality, which carried out the groundwork and completed the area.
During the summer, we will also be adding benches to make the area even more inviting. The playground is open to everyone, and no museum ticket is required to visit.
We hope you’ll come by—warmly welcome!
